removing widgets, comment box…..

  I’m new to wordpress, and am using the ‘black letterhead theme’ for my new website which I intend to display my art on, as an online gallery. Therefore, all the widgets in the sidebar, the comment box etc. are of no use to me. I would like to know how I can remove every single one of them. If not, are there other themes that will allow me to do this? Help appreciated.

  It’s easy to remove all widgets. Simply place a text widget with not title and no contents at the top of your sidebar and remove all other widgets. But do understand doing that does not “erase” the programming. The blogging space is the size it is and removing widgets does not mean you can blog in the sidebar space.

  Other alternatives for photo blogging themes just to name a few are Duotone, Monotone which were designed for photoblogging. You may also want to look at Monochrome, Inuit Types, and Hemingway. But these aren’t the only themes you could use.

  You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)

  Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

  thanks very much. I am playing around with the hemingway theme, but I still cannot remove the comment box at the bottom of the page.

  You can’t remove the comments box from any theme without a solid knowledge of CSS and the paid CSS upgrade.

  Also don’t you want to receive feedback from those who visit and view your art?

  You can disable comments on your whole blog under Settings->Discussion, but that still leaves the button.

  Try iNove: it’s got the option to deactivate the sidebar (Appearance > iNove Theme Options).

  You can remove the comments box by deactivating commenting (Settings > Discussion for new posts or pages, post or page editor for already published ones).
