removing wordpress.com from my web address

  i asked this question but my system shut down before i could review the reply. Can i remove wordpress.com from my web address, I only want to purchase the basic plan?

  Yes, if you upgrade from the free plan to the Personal plan it includes a free custom domain for a year.
