Removing 'wordpress.com' from my URL

  • Unknown's avatar

I own my own domain (pcdoc2you.com) and love the site I made on WordPress. I would like (as all traffic will be forwarded to pcdoc2you.com) to have the URL show up only as that, ‘pcdoc2you.com’ and NOT have the wordpress.com at the end. Will purchasing the ‘personal’ package prevent that? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I would like (as all traffic will be forwarded to pcdoc2you.com) to have the URL show up only as that

Sure! To do this, you would need to map pcdoc2you.com to your WordPress.com site.

Each paid WordPress.com plan comes with a domain credit which you can use to register a new domain or map one you already own.

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

Once the domain is mapped to your site, you can set it to be your primary domain — visitors will then see pcdoc2you.com instead of pcdoc2you.wordpress.com.

Come back to me if you have any questions!

    Thank you.
I have already forwarded my domain (pcdoc2you.com) to wordpress. I wanted to know if the ‘personal’ purchase level would eliminate the extension,.. workpress.com
You are saying “yes”? Right. Thank you.

    Hi,

I have already forwarded my domain (pcdoc2you.com) to wordpress.

    When I visit pcdoc2you.com, I am taken to pcdoc2you.wordpress.com — I still see the .wordpress.com address.

I wanted to know if the ‘personal’ purchase level would eliminate the extension,.. workpress.com You are saying “yes”? Right.

Correct! If you want to hide the .wordpress.com part of your address, you can map your domain instead.

The Personal plan provides you with domain credit and you can use this credit for Domain Mapping. Once the domain is mapped, visitors will only see pcdoc2you.com.

Hope this helps but I’m happy to answer any more questions.

Thank you… made the change and also the alteration to the nameservers.
Hoping it all comes together. Thank you again.
