  If you want to rename files that are in your media library, you can click on the “edit” link to change the title:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new/

  Your account is only a few hours old and links to an empty blog. but if you are really on WordPress.COM you can’t change the file name, as noted above you can change the title.

  WordPress.COM does not allow FTP access for security and reliability reasons and FTP access is required to change a file name.
