  Hello – we have recently changed our blog from Stage and Costume Management to just Stage Management. If I change the URL and @ handle for the WordPress page, will @stageandcostumemanagement and the old URL redirect to the new one? Or will it be lost? We have graduates and families of students who have saved the link for the blog and I’d hate for them to lose easy access! Thanks

  Hi there,

  Only custom domains can be transferred to other blog or account.
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/#transfer-domain-to-another-site-you-own

  In this case I would suggest starting a new blog or website:
  https://wordpress.com/start

  Then you can export the content of your existing website:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  And import it to your new one:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

  That way you will have two websites with identical content.

  One more thing that I learnt you could do is set up redirect.

  That way those visitors of yours who are familiar with the old URL would end up on your new site. Although you would still have to create a whole new blog. To set up redirect, click here.
