renaming issues

  i created by mistake fatteconlostampino.wordpress.com instead of renaming farinadelvostrosacco.wordpress.com.
  When I realized I could rename it I then deleted fatteconlostampino.wordpress.com but now I cannot rename anymore farinadelvostrosacco.wordpress.com to fatteconlostampino.wordpress.com since it says it is already in use. what to do?

  Hi @farinadvs,

  I understand your situation. Unfortunately, WordPress.com does not recycle deleted URLs immediately. i.e. you will not be able to rename your blog’s URL to ‘fatteconlostampino.wordpress.com’.

  However, you may be able to reclaim your deleted URL two or more years later.

  Also, you have another option to purchase a custom domain for your blog (e.g. fatteconlostampino.com) in case you badly want to keep the name in your URL. Here’s more on domains in WordPress.com:

  Hi!

  I have another question about this, as I did kind of the same thing.

  I wanted to start over with my blog. I was able to delete all old posts, tags, pages etc. But since I could not find any way to delete the old statistics, I deleted the blog and was planning on making a new one with the same name. Now however I realize that I am not able to use that name as it has already been used.

  My question is: Since I am the old “owner” of the name, there should be some way to disable this automatic blockage? As I understand the blockage is there to protect the old owners. If the old owners still have the “rights” to the blog, then I still have the rights to this name, and would like to transfer it somehow? As the link provided above says that you CAN transfer a blog name from one person to another if you get their consent – this should be possible for me to do? I am of course willing to consent to this as the original owner.
