Renaming my blog

  Hi, I just registered my blog with WordPress, but when I gave it a second thought, I figured I didn’t really like my domain name and I’m hoping there’s a way I could rename my blog. Can you please help me with this?

  Hi there!

  Within 48-hours, you can cancel your domain registration for a full refund, and then register a new name.

  Just a warning:

  If we cancel your newly-registered domain, it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and we can’t guarantee that your domain will be available to you again once canceled.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > My Domains in your dashboard.

  However, if you don’t want this domain at all, you can cancel it for a full refund if you purchased it within the last two days. To cancel the domain, go to Store → My Upgrades in your dashboard. Locate the domain you want to cancel in the list, and click on the Cancel and Refund link near to it.

  This cannot be undone, so please follow the on-screen instructions carefully before you confirm the cancellation.

I other words, is it safe for me to cancel this one and choose a DIFFERENT name, or would that take weeks?

  Absolutely! It would be the OLD domain name that would become unavailable. You can register a new domain name immediately.
