  Expired means:
  (of a document, authorization, or agreement) cease to be valid, typically after a fixed period of time.
  “the old contract had expired”
  synonyms: run out, become invalid, become void, lapsed.

  When you fail to renew a domain URL before expiry you no longer own the domain; the domain name registrar owns it and can do whatever they want wth it.

  Hi there,

  Our records show that justoruizphotography.co expired 42 days ago on Nov 18, 2015.

  Domain expiration is a lengthy and complicated process that takes about 80 days. During this time, your domain may be put up for auction or sold on back-order.

  Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

  The good news is that we may still be able to recover your domain if it has not yet been deleted or purchased by someone else.

  A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular price of renewal. This fee is charged by the domain registry and is not one that we can waive.

  The total price will be $113, which is $33 for the regular renewal, plus the $80 late renewal fee. Please reply back if you would like to pay the fee so that we can begin the recovery process.

  If you do not wish to pay the $80 fee, you may let the domain expiration process continue and attempt to register the domain again at the regular price, once it has completely expired.

  Please note that someone else may purchase the domain first, in which case you will be unable to register it again, but if you prefer this option, just let us know and we’ll be happy to provide you further instructions.
