We would have sent out a number of automated reminders before the expiration date—have you checked your spam, junk, social, etc folders to ensure they weren’t routed there?
You can renew your domain upgrade through your site’s dashboard available at https://koslouisville.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

I’ve been through these same pages for the last 2 hrs! I still can’t find where I can PAY for my renewal. Yes, all kinds of info for upgrading, etc., but not a damned button I can find that will take a payment. What am I missing here!? My store page doesn’t have anyplace to following through simply to renew. NOW I remember why I got the fellow who set this up to update it in past years. I can’t ever seem to find the right button. What am I missing?

I sincerely apologize. I overlooked that a different user had purchased it. Upgrades are owned by the user who purchased them and they’re the ones who has to renew them (unless they contact us asking the upgrades to be transferred to a different user).
That would also account why you weren’t notified about the expiration since the purchasing user, koslouisville, would have received those notices.
Since I wasted your time :-(, I have comp’d the renewal for you. The expiration date is now September 17, 2014. Again, my apologies.

Thanks again for the help. I didn’t think I was that stupid. Many thanks also for the freebie. Happy to reimburse you is there’s any feasible way to do so? Is there anything we can do now to avoid this recurring next year? My friend who set this up has moved and we’ve lost contact, but I anticipate our group will want continue with WordPress in the future.

No need to reimburse; more than my pleasure as a token for slipping up.
We do need authorization from the original purchaser to transfer the upgrade to your account, which would allow you to renew next year from this user account. Likewise, that account is the “owner” of the blog, so it would be best all the way around to transfer ownership of the blog and the upgrades to an account would continue to be connected to the organization.
With your permission, I can e-mail the owner to indicate your desire to assume ownership. Unfortunately, unless he/she responds, we can’t do much more.

OK, you try to contact him. I’ll leave him a FB message also and maybe we can get this done. His name is Mike Capiro, (email visible only to moderators and staff) is the last email I had for him.
