  Hi,

  I got an email saying that my domain is set to expire on Feb 15. I would like to renew it. Can you please assist me with this. Thank you for your assistance.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You can renew anytime before Feb 14 by visiting this page and clicking on the “renew now” button: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/revreviewsblog.com/14238048

  Hi,

  Thank you for your quick response.

  When I clicked on the link that you shared, I get the following message:

  “You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.”

  I am not sure how to proceed further. Can you please assist. Thank you for your support.

  Hm, are you logged in under your revreviewsblog account when you try that?

  What do you see at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases instead?

  I see the same message. And yes, I am logged in under my revreviewsblog account. Also, I get the following error message: “We couldn’t load our Concierge schedule. Please try again later.”

  Are you able to load the stats page at https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/revreviewsblog.wordpress.com?

  Please see if clearing your browser cache, or else logging into your account using a different browser, helps at all.

  Great. It worked when I used a different browser.

  I have an additional query. What happens if I don’t renew my domain (revreviewsblog.com)? Will I still be able to use my site’s free address i.e., revreviewsblog.wordpress.com?

  Hi there,

  Yes that is correct, your site will go back to using the “wordpress.com” address instead of the custom address.

  With that said, I don’t recommend that you let you domain expire if you can avoid it. Google has indexed your site at that URL, so switching addresses may hurt your visibility in search results.

  In addition, if someone tries to visit revreviewsblog.com (after it expires) will NOT redirect visitors to the new site address. e.g. you will lose any traffic from people who do not know your address changed, and try to visit the old address.

  I just have one final question. If I let my domain expire, all the content that I have will still be available on my site’s free address, right?

  Your content won’t be affected in any way, no.

  All that will happen is that the domain is removed, and any content you added while you had the domain active will just appear at the WordPress.com address.

  Though it’s worth noting that any links you shared online using the domain, will stop working entirely once the domain is removed. We will no longer control the domain at that point, so we won’t be able to redirect people to the free address equivalent.

  Anyone who clicks an existing link for your custom domain will either get an error page, or get taken to the website of the next owner of the domain, once someone else buys it.
