Hi there!
Your domain
lanemoore.orgexpired on 2021-11-07 and is currently in the redemption period:https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period
We can still try to recover the domain but you will need to pay an $80 redemption fee in addition to the regular $18 domain renewal cost. If you agree, I can send a payment request and contact our domain registrar once it has been paid.
Thanks!

Hello! please recover and renew it. however the last communication i received regarding the domain was that I would be charged $18 and it would auto-renew on 11-07, so I will absolutely not be paying the $80, as this seems to have been a mistake on wordpress’s end.
Thanks

Also this doesn’t explain why the domain went down TODAY? if it wasn’t renewed shouldn’t I have noticed last month?

I’m afraid there’s a misunderstanding here. WordPress.com does not set the redemption fee, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) does and as such this isn’t a fee we can waive.
Your domain was tied to a WordPress.com Business subscription and the domain would have renewed on 2021-11-12 since it was registered five days after the Business plan was put in place. Then, in October 2021, you filed a chargeback with your credit card company for the original charge for this plan from November 2020 and when that completed, the plan was removed from your account.
When a chargeback completes and the credit is issued by the payment provider rather than refunded by WordPress.com, a $15 fee is incurred to cover the cost of the dispute resolution process. This also prevents any future purchases or renewals unless that fee is paid in full, which you paid earlier today.
Again, the redemption fee is not set by WordPress.com so we’re not able to waive that fee. You can choose to pay that fee and recover your domain, or you would need to wait for the redemption process to complete, which can take up to 80 days to complete through ICANN.
Let us know how you’d like to proceed. Thanks!

Thanks for starting the renewal process, but as far as I can tell, the business plan price was separate from the domain registration, and the intention was to just cancel the business plan. It seems pretty ridiculous that you would send no notification of the auto renewal being cancelled, or even the plan being cancelled for that matter.

Thanks for confirming! I’ve sent that payment request to the email address on file with your account here.
Once you get that paid, please post back here and I can start that recovery process. We’re not notified when these are paid, so update us here as soon as you can.
I’ll wait to hear back!

Also, it appears I received have no notifications from ICANN to my email, and according to the bulling history the domain registration and business plan are different items.
I specifically checked when cancelling the business plan, that the domain would renew automatically. And it was fine for the entire month of November. So i don’t quite buy that somehow I did this….
Either way please redeem it up ASAP and we can discuss how this was handled AFTER I am able to change registrars.

ICANN does not email domain owners directly – they set the regulations for domain registrars to follow.
Also, I can only go off the information I can see in your account and what dates correspond to each transaction or cancellation. In your account, when the plan was cancelled due to the chargeback it also cancelled the domain subscription.
I looked in your past support history and I didn’t see where you had reached out to support prior to today, so I can’t confirm what information you had was correct or not.
But, that’s not what you need help with here…as such I was able to recover your domain from redemption! You can manage your domain settings here:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/lanemoore.wpcomstaging.com
It looks like it retained your DNS information and that your site is loading there again, so you might not need to do anything here.
Once 60 day transfer lock expires (set by ICANN), you’re free to transfer the domain out to the registrar of your choice:

Thank you for getting it back up. Two things:
Wordpress must have canceled the domain subscription because my bank did not, so unfortunately this is all still tracing back to a WordPress issue. My bank never charged me for the registration renewal, or did a chargeback on that. They are two separate things and I did not cancel the domain subscription, which means WordPress did. Either way, I never received an email from WP or ICANN that my site needed to be renewed before today.
Also, it was supposed to charge to the card on file, but it didn’t, so it looks like it charged to the wrong card now, can you please charge it to my card on file?

Hi there,

As helper-heroponriki already said, your Business plan and your domain were canceled because you filed a chargeback. When you file a dispute against us you are essentially accusing us of fraud. This causes all upgrades to be removed from your account and for your site to be locked pending payment of a chargeback fee. You can read our full policy on chargebacks here:
https://wordpress.com/support/payment/chargebacks/
I never received an email from WP or ICANN that my site needed to be renewed before today.
We have sent you renewal notices to the email address associated with your WordPress.com account. You can find that email address here: https://wordpress.com/me/account
