Renew domain name after expiration

The domain name for my site expired a month ago. I would now like to renew that domain name but it doesn’t appear to be available even though it has not been taken by anyone else (it is ‘parked’). How can I get the URL back? Thanks.

Hi there,
Your domain is still recoverable at this point at its regular renewal price. You have two options.
- Pay for the domain renewal only. I’ll have to send you a payment form for that.
- Upgrade to one of our plans and renew the domain for free for the first year.
I see you previously had the Personal plan, so you can go with that.

If you’re using your domain to connect back to your WordPress.com site, you can do so with or without a paid plan. You don’t need a paid plan to have a custom domain here. You only need to upgrade to a paid plan if you need the features of that plan.
One of our paid plans’ features is allowing users to set their custom domain as primary. If your custom domain is not primary, people will still end up at your site if they type it into the address bar, but it will forward to conference895790920.wordpress.com.
