When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/. There is also a redemption fee charged by the registrar.

If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, Staff will look up its status and get in touch with details.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

Hi, thanks for the info. The domain is littleglamkiss.com

    Hi littleglamkiss,

littleglamkiss.com expired on 2017-02-10 and is currently in the redemption period:

    Domain Expiration

The good news is that you can still try to recover your domain as it has not yet been deleted, purchased by someone else at auction or sold on back-order. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular domain renewal cost of $18.

If you agree to these costs I can generate a payment request for the amount. Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back. Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.

If you do not want to pay the fee, you can wait until the domain is released but you may not be able to get it back if it is purchased at auction during this time.

Acting quickly is important if you do want to try and recover the domain, so please let me know what you would like to do as soon as you can.

    Thanks!

    Hi Gemma,

Thank you for getting back to me. I wish there could be away around paying the $80, which I believe to be an excessive amount, but it seems that if I want to keep my domain and make use of it asap there really isn’t any other way.

So I’d like to proceed with the renovation, I just have a couple of questions first:
    1) you mentioned “try” to get the domain back, what are chances of success for that? like a percentage
    2) once the payment is processed, how long before I get my domain back and can make use of it?

I’d appreciate your soon response, have a nice day.

    Hi Eva,

    1) you mentioned “try” to get the domain back, what are chances of success for that?

We stand a good chance but there are no guarantees. The domain expired nearly two months ago so the quicker we can start the recovery, the greater our chances :)

    2) once the payment is processed, how long before I get my domain back and can make use of it?

We usually hear back from our domain registrar in 1-2 days. If the domain can be recovered I’ll add it back to your account straight away.

I wish there could be away around paying the $80, which I believe to be an excessive amount

I’m afraid this fee is standard for domains in the redemption period. If recovery is unsuccessful, you will be fully refunded.

I’ve sent a payment request to the email address on your account — that way if you do want to move ahead with recovery, you can do so straight away. If you don’t want to, I can delete the request.

Come back to me if you have any questions.

    Speak to you soon.

    Hi Gemma,

I’ve submitted the payment. Receipt #[redacted]
Please move forward with the recovery as soon as possible so I can get the website up and running again.

Thank you for all your help.
