renew domainmapping via paypal
-
dear wordpress-team,
I would like to renew my domain. since I dont have a credit card I want to do it via paypal. unfortunately, when I try to pay via paypal I am always asked to enter additional credit-card information. is it maybe because when I click on renew, it says I am ordering the domainmapping with “automatically renew” ? When I go to my dashboard, automatically reniew is disable (because otherwise I would need a credit card which I dont have). maybe the renew-link is wrong? could you show me a renew-link where I just order the domain-renew without automatically renew? maybe then I would have a chance to pay via paypal without credit card. or is there another solution? please, thank you for any help!
best

Hi there!
You should be able to renew the mapping manually by going to Store -> My Upgrades in your site’s dashboard and clicking the “renew now” button. On the next page, there’s a tab where you can select PayPal as a payment option:

hi! thanks for the reply! unfortunately, thats the way i already did it:
I clicked on the paypal-option, i was transferred to paypal but there on the paypal side I am asked for credit card information (the upgrade is 18 dollars, i have 20 dollars though on my acount) – i already asked paypal but they sayed this depends on the company I am buying from. so i have no idea how to make this payment without credit card… -
maybe there is an email-address on which I can do the payment from paypal? I just found out this option works on my paypal-account.
is it possible to pay this way the 18 dollars? thank you for an advice! -
Once you are logged into PayPal, you will have the option to select your PayPal balance rather than using a credit card. Here’s a page that might be useful:
https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/helpcenter/article/?solutionId=163720&topicID=11500008&m=TCIIt is possible that PayPal is adding a fee for the transaction due to a currency conversion since you’re not in the United States.
You do have until June 2013 to get this renewed, so if you need to add a few more dollars to your balance, you have time to do so and retry.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I contacted paypal again, they told me there is no extra fee from their side, i already converted the currency to us dollars and thats it (20,76 $). so I guess it is because I order a “subscription with automatically renew” (when I follow all the renew links from my up-grades in “store”) – therefore wordpress also needs credit card information since my paypal-account has just enough money for one year. (it would be very inconvenient for me putting much more money on my account because I just use paypal for my wordpress-bills)
please, could you send me a link to order without “automatically renew” or, even better, an email-address so that I (myself actively) can send money to this account? I hope there is a possibility to solve it,
thank you very much for your support! -
That’s odd, that should work.
Regardless, what I’ve done now is gone in and sent you a direct payment request from our PayPal account for the $18 domain registration renewal. You should see that request in your email – double check your spam folder if you don’t see it.
I added a link to this thread for you to respond to once you’ve paid the payment request. Once you reply, I can go in and manually process the domain renewal.
Let me know if you have any questions or if you need me to send the request again.
Thanks for your patience!

hi! i just did the payment of 18 $ with the transaction code [Staff removed] and it seems it worked. I hope its not too annoying doing the renewal manually, thanks a lot once again for your support!

Thank you!
I’ve processed the domain renewal for you – the new expiration date should refresh shortly.
Let me know if I can help with anything else. :)
