Renew Expired Domain

  Hello, I believe my domain name mycasualkitchen.com expired and I need to renew it. However I don’t see any history of payments on my WordPress dashboard and am not sure where my domain was registered before. Can you help me understand my options to renew it?

  Hi there!

  Your domain mycasualkitchen.com expired on March 14th and is currently in the redemption period:

  Domain Expiration

  We can still try to recover the domain but you will need to pay an $80 redemption fee in addition to the regular $18 domain renewal cost. If you agree, I can send a payment request and contact our domain registrar once it has been paid.

  Thank you for your response! I’d definitely like to keep the domain name. Quick question – if I transfer to a different domain host, is there a authorization code I can provide to transfer? I was looking into another platform that asked for that auth code. Otherwise, if my only option is to pay the $80 fee, that is fine as well.

  To recover your domain name from redemption, the domain registry authority (ICANN) charges $80 – this isn’t set by us here at WordPress.com. But, once you recover the domain, there will be a 60 day waiting period (again, set by ICANN) before you can transfer the domain to another registrar.

  However, you can point the domain to your new site right away by following these steps (after the domain has been recovered):

  https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/#changing-name-servers-to-point-away-from-wordpress-com

  Then after the 60 day period, you can transfer the domain to the registrar of your choice.

  I’ve just sent a payment request to the email address on file for your account. Once you pay that invoice, please respond to this thread so we can proceed. We won’t be notified when you pay this, so commenting here is important. :)
