Renew expired domain

Hi, my domain seems to have expired, I have tried to renew this domain, but only seem to be directed to the update page rather than renew.. my website has just gone offline in the last few days..

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If your domain was recently expired, you should be able to view https://wordpress.com/domains/manage and renew the site at regular price. We’ve added ‘modlook‘ so that one of our staff members will be able to assist you better on the case. :)

In future, I’d suggest you to enable “Auto Renew” option on your domain upgrade, so you’ll never have to worry about losing your domain. See Manage Purchases for more information.

When a domain expires, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

I thought that my account would auto renew, but it is likely that I have a new account number and this did not auto renew.

Will I be okay to pay the regular fee?

Hi there,

Your domain expired on 9 September. The domain has already been removed from our system and is currently in redemption with our registrar. It is still possible for me to recover the domain at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. Let me know if you agree to that fee and I can get the recovery process started.

Thanks for confirming. I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive your payment I can email our registrar to restore the domain.

Our registrar has restored your domain and I’ve reactivated it on your account. It is already showing your site for me again, though you may need to clear your browser cache before it will work for you.

Hello! I have looked at my bank acccount after paying the 80 dollar redemption fee and WordPress has debited $126.50 from my bank account. Do you know what has happened here?

The payment link I sent you was for $98.00 – $80 redemption fee and $18 renewal fee for the domain. The amount is in US$, so if your card is issued in a different currency, the foreign exchange difference would account for the different amounts.
