Renew my domain
-
Dear all,
I would love to renew my domain:
https://mobilizingtheself.com/
You have send me many messages about that — but whenever I go into the dashboard it jumps to my profile (http://gravatar.com/martinklepper) and says that I don’t have any sites — which is nonsense. I’m co-owner of the site above and want to renew it — how can I do that?
Best,
mk -
Hi there, it’s likely that you need to be logged in with a different username account since the one you are posting from is only 6 days old.
Try logging out of this account and then logging back in with the email address that the notices have been sent to.
-
Yes, well, then I get a link sent and end up in exactly the same page which again says, that I don’t have any sites. The same happens by the way if I go on the profile that is right on the mobilizingtheself site…
No chance… -
Hi there,
You keep getting logged back into this account because you keep entering the email address for this account on the login form: I see several login link requests for the
martinklepperaccount, and none at all for the account that owns the domain. To log into your account that owns that domain, you need to use that account’s username or email.
If you can’t remember the correct login details for the other account, please follow our account recovery steps here:
-
But isn’t that the email to which the notice was sent:
“Hello,
We wanted to send you a friendly reminder that your domain will expire in 30 days. We suggest renewing it now, to make absolutely sure there’s no disruption to your service.
If your WordPress.com subscription is set to automatically renew, we will attempt to renew your domain name before expiration. If we are unable to do so, or you do not have your WordPress.com subscription set to automatically renew, you will have to manually renew the domain name to prevent any service disruption.
Domain name due for renewal:
mobilizingtheself.com – expires on 2020-08-06”
I have tried several times to log in with this email (redacted)!
Best,
mk

The transaction details from before will be sufficient in providing proof of ownership and regaining access to the correct account. We are unable to confirm or decline any details about the correct email address here, as it would be a violation of user privacy.
Please use this form to get signed in correctly:

You guys,
I’m still desperate. I managed to renew the site:
https://mobilizingtheself.com/
as I finally received the login data from my predecessor. I put the site on my credit card and renewed till 8/2021. So far so good. But I still only get into wordpress with the mail I used here: [redacted by staff] — and then wordpress says I do not have any sites. I changed the emails in the setting to (email visible only to moderators and staff) (which is my preferred mail address) — but it just keeps not recognizing me. I still have to log in with the email of my predecessor — and strangely the new password which I entered. How can I get rid of the old email of my predecessor and also the (email visible only to moderators and staff) mail — so that my login is just (email visible only to moderators and staff) — why is this all so difficult?
Best,
mk -
Once you’re logged into the correct account, you’ll be able to update the email address as explained here:
https://wordpress.com/support/email-address/
For the change to actually take place, you’ll need to confirm it from the new address – you’ll receive an email with a link.
-
Hello,
I’ve tried it again, about the 5th time now. Yes, I change the mail, I get a confirmation link, I confirm and I jump back to this site: (email visible only to moderators and staff) — which does not know my site (it says I don’t have any sites). It does not accept the email change for the account to which the site is linked.
Can you just completely delete this account: (email visible only to moderators and staff)? I think somehow this account interferes with the other.
And please don’t send me another standard mail to your instructions — I have read them all!
Best,mk

Are you receiving the email confirmation about the email change on the account? It is sent to the email that is on the account presently, not the new one. And when you confirm the change, what is happening exactly? Is there an error message?
Just trying to see exactly where things are falling apart here.
-
Liz,
thank you! It’s a bit weird. Yes I do receive a confirmation email. When I confirm the change, I automatically am logged into my account, which I have meanwhile also set to (email visible only to moderators and staff) — but it still says then that I don’t have any sites. To get to my site (https://mobilizingtheself.com/) in the WordPress app I still have to log in with the mailaddress of my predecessor — it simply doesn’t change. So I guess the question is how do I transfer my “mobilingtheself” site to my own account? Fortunately things don’t completely fall apart because my predecessor gave me his login information — but It’s of course nonsense to log in with his email (which really doesn’t exist anymore in reality anyway).
So how do I get the two accounts together?
Sorry about the mess
martin -
Hi Martin, one issue is that the two accounts cannot have the same address. You would need to use a different address for each account, or use an alias in one account. The other is that you will need to log into the account you’re changing, then stay logged in while you confirm the address adjustment. So if you want to go the route of changing addresses, that may help.
That said, it’s possible to change site ownership as well. Moving the domain is a bit tricky, and will require confirmation via the old email address, but it’s doable:
https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/You can then change ownership for the whole site as well.
Want to try one of those options and let us know if you need help?

Ok, I made it! Thanks a million! I actually couldn’t use the email to log into the confirmation site, I had to use the username (mobilizingtheself) and then it suddently worked.
I changed the other domain (where I don’t have a site) to a different email account of mine, as you suggested — can I delete this domain somehow? I didn’t find that in the tutorials..
Best,mk

Yay! I’m glad you were able to get into the correct account.
What exactly do you want to delete? Your account only owns one domain, mobilizingtheself.com, and that’s the one you said you wanted to renew in your first post above (and have since renewed).
-
Domain was the wrong term. Sorry. I mean probably ‘account’ — the mobilizing the self site now is linked to the mobilizingtheself//(email visible only to moderators and staff) account. But from tying to log in before I succeeded I have this second account without a site/domain under (email visible only to moderators and staff) — is there a way to get rid of that…?

You can close any account you don’t wish to keep as explained here:
https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/
I hope that helps :)
