    Hey @hpeters23

Can you please share the address of the site you were looking to install/renew the SSL for?

If your site is hosted on WordPress.com, the SSL is installed/ renewed automatically, and for new domains, it might take up to 72 hours for the SSL to be installed. Additional details on this can be found here https://wordpress.com/support/https-ssl/#how-do-i-install-an-ssl-certificate-on-my-word-press-com-site

    Thanks!

    The site is friendsofswanlakepark.ca

I have renewed the domain with Hover. Do i have to link this in WP some how?

  • Hi there,

Only if you want to use the domain with a site hosted here on WordPress.com, like your WordPress.com site, friendsofswanlakepark.wordpress.com, which you created yesterday.

But it looks like your domain is already linked to a WordPress site – one using the open source version of WordPress, that’s hosted by Bluehost.com.

If that existing Bluehost site is the one you want to use the domain with, you don’t need anything at all here on WordPress.com. In that case you can cancel the Personal Plan you bought yesterday for friendsofswanlakepark.wordpress.com, which is a completely different site. You can do that from the Purchases page at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases

To clarify things a bit, in case you’re confused: WordPress is just the name of the software your site is built with. That software is made by the community on WordPress.org.

You have that software installed at the hosting provider, Bluehost.com, i.e. you’re paying Bluehost to provide you with a server you can run WordPress on, to have your site online.

WordPress.com, where you’re posting now, is another hosting provider, like Bluehost. But as your site is hosted with them, not us, we have nothing to do with your site, and you don’t need to pay us for anything related to your site at friendsofswanlakepark.ca

Let me know if you have any questions.
