  My site was scheduled to expire on January 23, 2016. I renewed today, January 3, 2016, and once the payment processed, I received a notice that it is set to renew on December 20, 2016. Why am I not receiving the one year I paid for?

  According to WordPress.com staff the upgrade is for 12 months, but the auto-renew kicks in at month 11 to allow time to resolve any payment problems that may arise:
