Renewal and change of domain name

    Goodmorning,
    I am interested in changing my domain name but keeping my website as it is ( I will just modify some text).
    I belive I’m still in the grace period to renew it without extra cost but I’m not sure wheter I can renew and change the domain at the ame time.
    Can you please explain me what steps I should do to proceed?

    Hi there,

    Are you referring to changing the name of your WordPress.com URL (http://dharmareiki.wordpress.com/) or changing the name of the custom domain that was associated with the domain (dharmadoreiki.com)?

    You can change your blog address by going to My Blogs, and clicking the Change Blog Address link that appears when you hover over the address you want to change:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/

    Note that you have the option to choose your user name to match the new blog address. If you choose this option, you will not be able to revert back to the original username, and it can affect profile URLs for other services such as Gravatar or IntenseDebate.

    I was referring to change “dharmadoreiki.com” into something else.

    I would like to keep the website as it is but change its name and its URL so that it matches the new name.

    Shall I just register the new domain under my account? then how do I swap the existing one with the new one?

    Exactly. You can just register a new domain and if you want to match the WordPress.com URL to the custom domain, you can definitely do that – it won’t make much of a difference since the WordPress.com URL will be masked, and you may want to keep the URL the same if you have many followers already familiar with the WordPress.com URL.
