Renewal due July 21, no renewal button to click

Please help me! The minister at our church set up our website, put in some content, then resigned. It is Marlboro Meeting House. She is not there any more, has moved to another state and will not help us renew the website. I am the new administrator and want to renew before the expiration July 21. I know very little about WordPress but I do know there is no “Renew Now” button. The minister was Heidi C. Heath but I saw that her partner, Emily Heath was the contact person when I changed the contact person to me, Marcia L. Hamilton. Please help me renew the website. Thank you.

Upgrades are owned by the account that bought them (email actually) – Domain names have the ability for others to gift” a renewal

The domain mapping does not seem to be “gifted” – but with some help from the staff the domain mapping can expire then be purchased again by another Admin on the blog
I will flag this for staff attention
you need to have the owner of the upgrades transfer them to someone with your group – they can do that at no expense to themselves

PS – WordPress.COM will not take an upgrade away from another account, the other account needs to transfer the upgrades

Hi Marcia,
As auxclass mentioned, at WordPress.com upgrades (like custom domains) are owned by individual WordPress.com users and only that user will see the option to renew the domain now. If the person who currently owns the domain wants to transfer it to you, so that you own and can renew the domain yourself, I can help with that. I just need that user to reply to this support thread or contact us directly to confirm that request.
There is also the option to renew a domain as a gift after it expires, but please keep in mind that won’t change who owns the domain.

Thank you so much. I have forwarded the email I received with your message to Heidi Carrington Heath, who was our pastor, asking her to follow your instructions to transfer. She was the one who “gave” me the website to administer for the church when she left. It is possible her wife, Emily Heath, might be the owner because her information was listed as the contact person when I attempted to change the contact to my information and renew it. Yesterday she said in an email that she was on vacation but would help with the transfer in a few days. I think the process will come to a conclusion quickly once she receives your instructions and follows them.

Per Marcia’s posts above, my intention was to transfer the website full to her. I believed I had done so based on my understanding of what was necessary, but it looks like there was an error somewhere. I give full permission for that to happen and am glad to do whatever is needed. Thanks!

Thanks for confirming that! I have transferred ownership of the website and the domain marlboromeetinghouse.com to Marcia.
Marcia, you can now renew that domain under Store > My Upgrades in the site’s dashboard.
Please also check to make sure the domain’s contact information is updated and correct. You can do that under Store > My Domains in the site’s dashboard. Next to the domain, you can click the Edit Domain button to view and edit that contact information. We also have more about that here:
