Renewal fees

    Hello, my domain is expired since October 13th.
    Today is October 30th, so, it has been 17 days.
    How come do I have to pay 80$ fee to renew it, if it’s after 18 days.

    Please, let me know.

    Howdy,

    Domains have a grace period of approximately two weeks where no additional fees are charged. (More about the timeline: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/ )

    The grace period ends when our domain provider places the domain “in redemption”, which varies in the exact number of days (though always longer than two weeks). When they place domain in redemption, we add on the late fee that is imposed on us.

    Once the domain is in redemption, the domain provider also places the domain up for auction. If someone bids on the domain, we won’t be able to get it back (late fee or not).
