  Hi my domain has been renewed directly with godaddy.com but still the website isn’t inaccessible. Please help

  Renewing the domain at GoDaddy has no effect on if and how it works with your WordPress.com site. To use that domain with a WordPress.com site you need an active domain mapping upgrade, and the domain mapping upgrade you used to have expired over a week ago and is no longer active on your account.

  We no longer offer domain mapping as a separate upgrade, so you’ll need to purchase one of our plans at My Site ->Plans in order to add a new domain mapping to your site.

  Hi kokkie

  I didn’t really understand. I have never renewed domain and domain mapping separately twice before. Have you changed the rules from this year, it’s very confusing. While renewing the domain with go daddy I wasn’t given this piece of information that I will need to go and pay wordpress separately yet again to map it. I never did it before then why now.

  Hi Kamakshi –

  Yes, domain mapping needs to be renewed each year. This is what tells the internet to load the WordPress.com version of your site on the given domain.

  The rules have not been changed. Domain Mapping has always required annual renewals.

  If you’d like the domain to load your WordPress.com site, then you’ll need to renew that domain mapping at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

  Hi
  I tried doing that and it shows $96 in total for domain mapping even though I am choosing the free option . Last year I paid 13$ hasn’t this been substantially increased.Why so high now ?

  The flow is signing you up for the premium plan by default. We can renew the domain mapping only option though for $13/year. I’ll get that set up on my end.

  Can you confirm that you want the domain mapped to inpursuitofhappinessdotin.wordpress.com. This is where it was mapped before, but there are several, very similar, sites listed on the account. Once I hear back I’ll get to work.

  Yes please send me the link for the payment and I shall do the needful. Also was it previously mapped to inpursuitofhappiness.in.wordpress.com or inpursuitofhappinessdot.in.wordpress.com because my domain name is inpursuitofhappiness.in and I would like to keep that as the same.
