  Hi, I am looking into subscribing to a personal website plan. I already have my own domain, which I would keep separate from WordPress. However, I want to have a better understanding of what renewal pricing would look like before purchasing an initial year. Does the cost stay the same as the initial subscription price of $48/month or is there an upcharge for annual renewal?

  Great question—and happy to help clarify!

  If you choose the Personal plan (billed yearly at $48/year), the price stays the same at renewal—there’s no upcharge after the first year for the plan itself.
  

  The plan also includes a free domain credit for one year, which you can use to register a new domain or transfer your existing one to WordPress.com (optional).

  If you decide to use that credit, the domain will renew separately after the first year at the standard renewal rate, which varies depending on the domain extension (e.g., .com, .org, .net, etc.). For info on domain extension and pricing, here: Domain pricing and available TLDs.
