Renewed expired account; need to remove your post
-
I have paid for an upgrade and mapped our domain to ilovejpl.com, which we previously had but missed the expiration date. I was able to change it to our primary domain, but it doesn’t show up in the drop down on your form below. Also there is a post on our page that I did not put there, did you?

How can this get removed?
How can I get ilovejpl.com to show in the drop down as our primary blog? -
As our member of Staff iterated in your private support thread (please ensure you’re logged into your WordPress.com account to view it):
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/private-support/domain-renewal-request-after-expiration?replies=3Someone else purchased the domain “ilovejpl.com” while it was in redemption since you didn’t pay the $80 late renewal fee. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do if another party legally purchases a domain in redemption.
What you added to your site was the Domain Mapping upgrade which allows you to use a domain registered elsewhere on your WordPress.com blog. Since you don’t own the domain, you’re not able to change the domain nameservers to point to WordPress.
As my colleague mentioned in the other support thread, someone else purchased the domain and is using it on their own host (SEO Hosting), which is where that post is coming from. They also appear to have copied your site to use as their own. Please review the WHOIS information here for more information:
http://who.is/whois/ilovejplI have removed the domain mapping from your site since it appears you don’t control the domain. You can use your free domain credit to register another domain. To check to see if the domain is available for purchase, check it at this website:
http://who.is/I hope that clarifies things!

Thank you for responding. As we are a public libraty, it is very unfortunate and disturbing that someone else is using our blog site with our artwork, logo, etc. and representing that as from the library.
I had not seen the above responses; I’ve had no luck until recently in getting emails sent to me versus someone else previously on our account, so I had not seen replies. I had sent emails inquiring about this previously and did not receive any response from your support team. Is there any way to refund our purchase rather than giving us a credit?
-
It is unfortunate. I wish there was more we could do.
Since you purchased the Premium upgrade a few days ago and did not use it to purchase a domain (which only has a 48 hour refund window), I can give you a full refund as it is well with 30 days of purchase. The free domain credit is just a part of the Premium upgrade, which is why I simply reset the credit in case you wanted to purchase another domain with that credit.
If you can confirm you want me to proceed with the refund, I’ll be happy to process it for you.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
-
Thank you for that offer. Could you first clarify how a refund would or would not affect our blog at ilovejpl.wordpress.com? Many thanks.
-
A refund would not affect your site at ilovejpl.wordpress.com at all. What the premium upgrade gives you is the following features:
– Free Credit for Domain Name & Mapping
– Space Upgrade
– No Ads
– Custom Design
– VideoPressYou can read more about each feature here:
http://store.wordpress.com/premium-upgrades/pro-bundle/You can most certainly keep the bundle if you like. The No Ads upgrade is a really nice addition to your WordPress.com site, and the Custom Design you can use to change the fonts and colors of your site.
I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any other questions.
-
Thank you for that clarification. Let me ask my manager and get back to you later this week.
In the meantime, our legal advisor in our city general counsel’s office would like a contact at WordPress regarding the other customer who is using the artwork and text from our blog as their own. Who should he contact at WordPress with questions?
-
Since this domain is not being hosted on WordPress.com, but hosted with a company called SEO Host using the free software at WordPress.org, there’s nothing that we can do on our end and they would need to contact SEO Host for assistance. For clarification, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two separate entities. Here’s more information on the difference:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/Here’s the full registrant information that is publicly available (you will need to enter the access code shown in the image to access):
http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?domain=ilovejpl.com&prog_id=GoDaddyAlso, since the domain was registered with private registration, you may also need to contact Domains By Proxy.
I hope that helps!

Thanks for all your help. Another point of clarification please:
What we are considering now, is to purchase the domain, ilovejpl.org, and map our blog, http://www.ilovejpl.wordpress.com, to that domain. Is that possible, and what would be the cost? thanks -
It is possible! Go to Store -> Domains from your site’s dashboard and follow the instructions on this page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/register-domain/#instructions-for-registering-a-new-domain-for-your-blogSince I restored the free domain credit on your Premium upgrade, registering ilovejpl.org will not cost you anything.
Let me know if you have any questions!
-
Great. I still see the $99 charge on my credit card. How do I get a credit issued for that payment? THANKS
-
Earlier this week with regards to my offering to give you a refund on the Premium upgrade you responded with this:
Thank you for that offer. Could you first clarify how a refund would or would not affect our blog at ilovejpl.wordpress.com? Many thanks.
And this:
Thank you for that clarification. Let me ask my manager and get back to you later this week.
Since you never got back to me whether or not you wanted me to refund the Premium upgrade – that upgrade is still active on the account. As I mentioned earlier, this upgrade gives you a ton of features – one of which is a free domain credit (valued up to $26). If you want a refund for the Premium upgrade, you would have to pay for the new domain registration as you would no longer have the free credit available.
Does that make sense? Let me know how you would like to proceed.
-
Yes, we would like a refund of our $99 payment for the upgrade bundle. After that is complete, we will go in separately and purchase the ilovejpl.org domain for $18. Thanks
-
Great – thank you for clarifying!
I have refunded the $99 for the Premium upgrade. Please note it may take a week for the credit to be reflected in your bank account.
Let me know if you have any questions!
-
Thanks, I’m trying to now purchase the ilovejpl.org domain and map it to our blog (ilovejpl.wordpress.com) but when I try to do so, it shows that I am getting it as part of the bundle I purchased. I’ve logged out and logged back in. Should I clear my cache to reset our account?
-
Hi there!
I had to go in and clear the upgrade from your dashboard – for some reason it didn’t do it when I refunded your upgrade.
You should be all set to purchase your new domain.
I hope that helps!
-
Yes, it worked. Thank you so much for your time and patience. We greatly appreciate it.
