Renewed premium and lost a month we paid for.

    Hi,

Our premium upgrade was set to expire on December 12, 2015. We opted not to renew and turned off auto-renew. However, not wanting to lose our domain name, I turned back on auto-renew, assuming I would be charged when our original year expired. However, I was charged immediately and was informed that my renewal will be November 11, 2016. Hence, I have lost one month of premium that I have previously paid for. Please get back to me as soon as you can regarding this issue.

  • Hi there,

Auto renewals happen one month prior to expiration, but the subscription is updated to one year out from the previous expiration date. So, you will get a notification 2 days before renewal 11/9/15 that you will be charged on 11/11/15. When you get charged, it will extend your subscription one year from the expiration date – so, 12/12/16.

We charge a month ahead to avoid any potential issues that may arise when charging your card (expired card, processing error, etc.) If we charged your card on the upgrade expiration date and an error occurred, it might take days to rectify the issue. We definitely do not want to risk you losing your domain subscription. We want to provide ample enough time to set things straight with payment, and 30 days usually works great to do so. =)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers,

    Darnell
