renewing a lapsed website

    Can you let me know how I can pay to re-instate our website to functionality?
    It expired 11 months ago because we didn’t realize that we were not on auto-renewal. Can we get this backup with all the original material? I can see it on preview.

    When you allow your domain expire, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

    If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive. Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

    I’ve tagged this thread in the sidebar with modlook for Staff attention.

    If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

    If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

    Hi there,

    Is this for the domain, thejoanphippsstory.com? That domain expired in July last year, and was completely removed from our system around September. We have no control over that domain any more whatsoever. If you want that domain again, you can go to My Site ->Domains ->Add to see if it’s currently available, and then register it as a new domain. Note that you’ll be required to purchase a plan now to add the domain as we no longer sell domains without a plan.

    If you were using that domain with your WordPress.com site, all your content should still be at the free WordPress.com address, https://thejoanphippsstory.wordpress.com/.

    If you were using the domain with a self-hosted WordPress site, you’ll need to contact your old hosting provider to find out if they still have an old backup of your content, though it’s unlikely after so much time.
