Renewing an expired domain for a blog I didn't stary

my domain is expired but I was not the original purchaser, the original purchaser is no longer involved in the blog and is currently out of the country and unavailable to do the purchase. Is it possible for me to purchase the domain through my login versus hers?

I have good news and bad news
upstartpdx.org. – is not registered with WordPress.COM and must be renewed with the registrar
The domain mapping for upstartpdx.org. – would need to be renewed by the EXACT account that owns the Upgrade – however
On Domain Mapping if the original account can’t renew the mapping – the mapping can be allowed to expire and another Admin can then buy the upgrade new (not renew) – if you opt for this option you will need staff help to clear the expired domain mapping upgrade when it expires so you can buy it again fresh

In addition to auxclass’s reply, the domain mapping upgrade has been renewed by the orginal purchaser.
