Renewing Domain

    Hi,

    I am trying to renew our domain name. Strangely, we are being told “Your blog uses a domain subscription that has expired. ” in August of 2013. I am trying to make a payment but I am having difficulty finding where to submit our credit card information.

    Can you please send me link or explain why I am unable to access this screen via Store → My Upgrades link in our dashboard.

    Hi there, Geoff,

    Could you please tell me the name of the domain to which you’re referring?

    I’m not showing that you registered a domain with us via this WordPress.com account. I have seen a history of domain mapping, though. The mapping for libraryblog.niagaracollege.ca expired on 8/24/2013, however.

    Hi Robyn,

    There is an warning to purchase the mapping again however, I am not sure why nor am able to pay the $13 fee (Admin>Store>My Domain)?

    The warning that we get is “Your blog uses a domain subscription that has expired.” and I am not exactly sure what that means? As we are still able to post items and access the dashboard.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Geoff, Would you please your transaction again? It appears as if part of your expired domain mapping was getting in the way of your new purchase. Please do give it a go. Let me know how it works for you. Thanks very much.

    Hi Robyn,

    We have been discussing this issue and have decided not to renew our mapping. Now, how do we get rid of the warning “Your blog uses a domain subscription that has expired.”?

    Hi Geoff,
    You actually don’t have mapping activated for http://niagaracollegelibrary.wordpress.com/.
    You can take a look at your settings at Store → My Domains. There’s in no mapping for your site. If you have questions about this, please let me know!

    Hi there Geoff! That sounds good. You will need to purchase domain mapping for niagaracollegelibrary.wordpress.com/. You can do this by clicking on Store in your site’s Dashboard. Then click Add a Domain, and then Buy Now.

    On the next screen, click Map a Domain You Already Own and follow these instructions from there:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#instructions-for-mapping-an-existing-domain

    You will need to adjust your domain host’s name servers so Niagara College’s tech admins might need to assist your there.

    Hi Robyn,

    I have followed your instructions and “think” that I have purchased the domain name. However, I am not seeing the transaction listed in My Billing history. Does this take a couple of days to populate?

    Hey Geoff, I don’t see a purchase for your site, niagaracollegelibrary.wordpress.com. That was the site you’re mapping, correct?

    Did you receive a confirmation that your credit card had been charged and your upgrade purchase was complete? Let me know.

    I am hopping to map : libraryblog.niagaracollege.ca which is an address that we let expired. Are there new instructions for registering this address?

    Hi Geoff!

    You’ll need to gather some information from your domain registrar as seen in this document:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

    First, you’ll follow the section called, “Instructions for Mapping Subdomains.” You will need to gather information from the host of niagaracollege.ca/.

    Next, you’ll go to the section called, “Adding a Subdomain if your Domain is Registered Elsewhere and Mapped to WordPress.com.” You can skip to step number 2 in this section.

    It will cost $13 to map a subdomain with your WordPress.com site.
