Renewing domain
-
Hello. I received notice that my blog’s domain is expiring in four days. I followed the steps to renew for one year, but received an error message stating that a different user originally purchased and I would have to ask them to renew. This is a business blog, and that person is no longer here. I do not have their login information, and their email address here has been disconnected. I am the only admin for our blog. How can I renew the domain? Thank you!

With difficulty – you MIGHT be able to do a gift renewal – but WordPress.COM will not take an upgrade away from another account – you will need to recover the account – if it is a business site with a business email – talk with your IT dept and turn the email back on long enough to transfer the account to an email that will never go away
What is the blog you need help with and the domain name?

I have flagged this for the staff to help

Thanks, auxclass. I did have our IT person open up the previous person’s email address, and give me access to it. However, when I try to log in to WordPress as her, clicking the forgot password link, I do not get anything at her email address instructing me how to reset the password, so I can log in as her. So, now I’m stuck again. The blog is: http://www.unbankingunbelievable.org. I am the only administrator listed.

The staff should be along to help
try leaving a comment on the site – if the comments are set to Moderate an email should be sent to the owner / admin – sometimes people do the same thing with a Contact Form (if there is one on the site)

I was finally able to get wordpress to send an email to the previous owner/administrator. Then I was able to login to her old email account and get access so I could change the email address. Thanks so much!
