Renewing domain

Hi there,
I went to renew my domain: ‘charliefriendofficial.com’ however I think this has been taken by someone else. Is there anyway I can retrieve this and if so, how do I do this? I didn’t know I had to renew with WordPress as I transferred my site to be self-hosted. Really hoping I haven’t lost my domain / my blog!

You’ve answered your own question by providing the “Whois” details. You let your domain expire and it is currently in the redemption period. Staff may be able to recover your domain but it is now more complicated and more costly. The Registrar requests an extra $80 as well as the renewal fee once the domain has gone well past the “grace period”. The other option is to bide your time until the domain is eventually released, although there is always the chance that the address is auctioned and purchased by someone else.
I have added modlook to the tag box on the right and hopefully in due course a member of staff will give you your options.

I’ve sent you a payment link via email for the redemption fee. Once we receive that I can email our registrar to restore the domain for you.
I did not include the cost for renewing the domain in the payment link, as that is covered by the Personal Plan you purchased over the weekend.

I’ve just emailed them. The domain should be up and running again within the next couple of days.

Your domain has been restored and I’ve reactivated it on your account. It’s showing your Siteground site again for me, but you might need to clear your browser cache before it will work for you.
As you’re not using the domain with a WordPress.com site, you don’t really need the Personal plan you bought over the weekend. If you prefer, I can remove that plan and refund you the difference between the cost of the plan and the cost of your domain, i.e. £15. Please let me know if I should do that.
