Renewing Domain after Three Months
-
Hi,
I let my domain name expire on 12/19/14. I would like to renew it. I thought I was doing so yesterday, but realize now that I paid for domain mapping rather than a renewal of the site.
Please let me know if there is any way to get my domain name back – simpleyetsignificant.com. I very much am looking forward to writing again on the site and would like to have the same setup with wordpress.
Thank you,

Hey Haley!
I’ve got some bad news: I took a look at your expired domain. It was auctioned off, and now belongs to a different owner. Sadly, this means you can’t get it back now.
You’ll need to either choose a new custom domain name.
Because it’s not helpful to you at the moment, I’ve removed the domain mapping subscription to the domain that now belongs to someone else. I’ve put a $13 credit in your account, so you can apply it to the purchase of another domain name.
I hope this helps clear up the issue for you. If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

I appreciate the response. Wow, I can't even explain how sad that makes me. Is there any way to get the content I wrote on that site? The photos, etc?
It was such an effort to set up a new site and map it that in not sure what to do next. If I would have known it would be auctioned off I wouldn't have let it expire :(

Hey there!
Oh never fear — while the custom domain might be lost, the actual site still exists at http://greenplatedinners.wordpress.com/. The content you created is ALWAYS yours.
Custom domain names can be auctioned off if you let the expire, but WordPress.com will keep your actual website safe and sound.
You can keep the free name it currently has, or you could give it a new custom name. It’s entirely up to you!
