renewing expired domain

Hello. Would like to renew expired domain (expired 2/4). It was most recently registered through WordPress. Domain name: porticolatinbistro.com . Please advise of procedure. Thank you.

It looks like your domain was expired 4 days ago, the domain name is currently in the grace period. At this point, there is not much you can do but wait for it to be in the redemption period. Once the domain is in the redemption period, you will have the chance to renew it but it will require $80 in fee plus the renewal fee.

On 7 December 2017 you submitted an email support ticket saying that you did not wish to renew the domain and you asked to cancel it. We cancelled the domain as you requested, and the domain has since been deleted by the domain registry. There is no way to restore the domain any more at this point.
The domain might be available to register again as a new domain by now, though. If you still want to use it with your WordPress.com site, you can try registering it again at My Site ->Domains ->Add, though please note that now you will need to purchase a plan in order to register a domain again.
This is not correct:
the domain name is currently in the grace period. At this point, there is not much you can do but wait for it to be in the redemption period.
If a domain is in the grace period we can still restore it, and we should act immediately in order to prevent it from going into redemption. The only correct way to deal with a domain in the grace period is to tag the thread for staff so we can help get the domain back before it’s too late, as this is also not something a domain owner can do on their own.

Thank you @kokkieh, @drunkentennis. @kokkieh, as you say, I have tagged thread with “modlook”. Yet I am a bit confused with your explanation: initially you say there is no way to restore, then you say if in grace period staff can help to restore. I read in WP documentation that grace period is 1-2 weeks, which we are still within. I work to request staff for assistance in making this happen if too late. Thank you for your help. Kind regards.

The domain is not able to be restored.
To regain ownership of it, you’ll need to register it as a new domain all over again. My advice is to try and do this at least once a day. This will hopefully give you an advantage to get to it first. If another party registers it before you there’s nothing we can do.

You’re past all of that now. To use this domain again, you need to regain ownership of it. The only way to accomplish that is by registering brand new again.
The domain is going to be released for sale again to the public. There’s not a notification of when this happens, which is why I suggested trying to register it daily.
Once the redemption period is up we aren’t able to assist with the recovery of the domain.
