Renewing expired domain
-
Hi! I really need to renew the domain for my website which has been expired for one month now and I cannot do it manually. The reason for the delay is that this website is for a university e-zine and we have only recently handed over to the new team, and still cannot get access to the email that the wordpress account is linked to. Please help! We are happy to pay extra for the late renewal etc. we just need it up and running again by the start of next term!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you can’t log in to the WordPress.com account, please follow the instructions from the Account Recovery guide:
At some point, you may run into a situation in which you’ve lost access to your account. This guide will explain the steps to avoid getting locked out and how to recover your account if you cannot log in. Provide a Recovery Email and SMS Number In the event you don’t have access to your primary WordPress.com contact information, you can provide a backup email and SMS number to verify yourTo verify ownership, you must prepare the transaction ID for the purchases (WordPress.com Starter plan and the domain) before submitting the Account Recovery form.
💡 Given that this is your internal account handover process, contacting the previous webmasters to provide the credentials for logging in to your site and the email used to make purchases would be best, as it would save you a lot of time and headaches.
Speaking of the domain, it expired 34 days ago, and it’s currently in the Expiry Auction phase. You can learn more about what happens with the domain after it expires here:
This guide explains what happens when a domain expires. Most of the same information also applies when a domain is actively canceled. When Does a Domain Expire? Hi! It’s currently the 4th January and any option to renew or see the expired domain has not come up in Purchases, nor have I been sent a link to renew it – what should I do now?

You wouldn’t see it there nor would you have been notified that it had been released to the public.
However, it seems that someone acquired the domain, and it won’t be released until the current registration expires on Nov 22 of this year. I know domain squatters can be frustrating to deal with and I understand that this news may be disappointing, and I’m truly sorry for any frustration it may cause. Unfortunately, once a domain is purchased in a domain auction, it becomes unavailable for repurchase.
In the meantime, your content is still accessible at https://cambridgegirltalk.wordpress.com/. You can continue to use that URL, or if you’re interested, you can explore the option of choosing a new custom domain through the purchase of one of our paid plans.
I understand that this may not be the outcome you hoped for, and I empathize with the situation. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if there’s anything else I can assist you with. Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

Ah okay thank you, no worries! We’ve got a new domain up and running but every link/page on the website gets redirected to the old domain – is there any way to fix this?
-
Hi there,
Your new domain, cambridgegirltalk.org, is connected to your WordPress.com site, cambridgegirltalk.wordpress.com, just as your previous domain was. Please clear your browser’s cache and let me know if you’re still getting that redirect or not.
-
Hi,
I’ve cleared the cache and also tried using the website on a new device – every link to a new page is still redirecting to cambridgegirltalk.com (which is now a gambling site) instead of cambridgegirltalk.org, despite having checked the pages’ URLs on the editing section of WordPress.
-
Can you please share a few links to those pages so I can have a look? On my end, almost all the pages I opened load your WordPress.com site. For example, when I visit https://cambridgegirltalk.org/2023/10/22/millennium-baby-leads-us-back-to-unprecedented-times/ I see the following:
