Renewing expired domain stopped by faulty error message ("not subscribed")!?

My blog’s domain expired on late July 30th. It is now August 4th, so I am still in my grace period. I hit the renew button, enter payment information, but then my action is stopped by the following message:
This blog is not subscribed to some of these products. Did you mean to purchase.
This does not make sense. My domain is listed and I am still in the grace period! How can I renew my expired domain now!?

Sorry for the trouble with that error message! Can you describe the exact steps you used to try to renew that domain upgrade, so I can investigate that for you?
To renew the domain upgrade right away, the administrator who purchased that upgrade can also log in and renew it directly from their My Upgrades page. (That’s the other administrator listed under Users > All Users in your site’s WP Admin dashboard.) If they try to renew the upgrade and also get that error, please let me know.

Logged in as the administrator I write the domain name in the address bar of my browser to be met with the screen saying: “Uh oh! Your blog’s domain nederlandsk.nu expired 7 days ago!”
I then press the “Renew now – for one more year” and am let to a checkout page.
I choose my payment method (I’ve tried both Credit Card and PayPal with same result) and when finalizing the payment I get the error message described earlier:
This blog is not subscribed to some of these products. Did you mean to purchase them?
Under My Upgrades, the domain product is not listed. However, it is under My Domains, where it says “Expired”. Nonetheless, I am still well within the grace period for renewal, so I expect this to simply work.

Thank you! I did not receive your mail, however, not in the spambox either. Did you perhaps send it to the other administrator’s mail ((email visible only to moderators and staff))? He is no longer active…

I have checked the gmail issues page and tried all the suggestions, but the mail you purportedly sent is nowhere to be found.

Ok, I just resent that email to you in case the last one went astray. That email has the same subject line as this forum thread: “Renewing expired domain stopped by faulty error message (“not subscribed”)!?”

This time around it came through! I fulfilled the manual payment, so I guess it’s just a question of time before my domain is up again…
