Renewing my domain name (trinemarie.com)

    Hey,

I got an email about renewing my domain name, and when I clicked on the link to do so it brought up a pre-filled “shopping cart” of options. For example, it already had an $8 fee added for private registration because I had chosen that last year. But I can’t seem to find anyway to change it. What if I don’t want this option for the following year?

My main issue, however, if with the first fee of $13 for Domain Mapping. That was fine when I blogged through wordpress.com, but I am now self-hosted and don’t need it. I since I’m not blogging from trinemarie.wordpress.com, I don’t want to pay for having it mapped to trinemarie.com. And, actually, if I type in the former address right now it doesn’t even take me to my blog.

So this mapping is no longer useful for me. But there is no way for me to remove it. What do I do? Is there a different way of renewing my domain name (without transferring it to Bluehost)?I don’t want to pay $13 for a service I am not using.

    Hi there,

If you would like to get rid of the Privacy for your domain, you certainly can! You can do so by logging in to your account and going to Store >> My Upgrades, and then click on Remove Privacy. You can then renew your domain without the Privacy.

As far as the Mapping upgrade goes, that is actually required for any domain registered through us, so is not something you can get rid of. If you would like to transfer your domain to another registrar to avoid that fee, you can follow this help article, which will walk you through all of the required steps:

Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar
