Renewing my site

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi.
I’m a looking to renew my site. It’s been over a year since I renewed, and it looks like my page and content is gone. I tried to renew and it keeps telling me to upgrade. Is there any way to renew my site and get my content back?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,
Are you referring to http://smartygirltips.com/? Because this site is not hosted here in WordPress.com. It’s a self-hosted site and maybe you were using WordPress.org software. To understand more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.com, visit this link:

It was set up through wordpress.com I just didn’t renew the domain and I can’t find any of my material and old blog posts. My account and login is through wordpress.com. I’m just not sure how to recoup my content. When I go to My site it gives me the option to renew but when I click on it only allows me to upgrade.

Thank you. I’m just trying to renew my domain through the site, like I used to, and it won’t let me.

  • Hi there,

You are not able to renew because the domain smartygirltips.com is under a different username/account. You’ll need to log into the account associated with the upgrade and I can take a look for you.

    Thanks!

I actually purchased a new domain name and would like to find a way to replace smartygirltips.com. I already paid $13 to map the new domain although I’m not sure if that is correct. I don’t want to renew my old domain because I want to switch my content over to the new one. Is that possible?

  • Are you referring to mascaraandsummer.com? So you want to map that domain to the blog under your other account?

  • Ah, I see. I moved the domain over to mascaraandsummercom.wordpress.com. So that URL should now forward to mascaraandsummer.com.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Yes, I think so. I’m just not very savvy when it comes to this stuff. I wanted to change the name of the blog so I purchased a new domain name mascaraandsummer.comand would like to use that domain name for the blog. I hope that makes sense.

    Hi Darnell,
One more question. I am still able to sign into smartygirltips.com to get my old blog post and content. I really like the layout and theme of my smartygirltips blog. Is there a way to link the layout and theme of the old blog to mascaraandsummer.com. I didn’t renew it because I wanted to change the domain address but I really like the layout. is there anything I can do?

  • You can activate the Liquorice theme on your new blog so that you’ll have the same theme and layout for your new blog. It shouldn’t take much to replicate the layout from there.

However, let me know if there is anything in particular with the layout you need help with. I’d be happy to assist. Thanks!

I’m having trouble mirroring my new blog with the old one. I had a computer savvy friend set up the pages for me. Is there a way to import the old blog (smartygirltips.com) into the new one (mascaraandsummer.com.) I thought about renewing the old domain, just for the content and layout, but apparently it’s been taken over by some squatter site.

  • Hey there,

You lost the domain smartygirltips.com but you didn’t lose your site. You can still use the same site that you created and connect mascaraandsummer.com to it.

Or, if you are interested in importing the blog content over from your other blog to your new one, you can follow the instructions from our support site:
