Renewing our blog
-
WordPress says my blog site is expiring in 15 days and giving me the option to ‘Renew now’. However, whenever I click ‘Renew now’, the only option I receive is to upgrade my account, which I am not interested in. How do I simply renew my blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi there,
You should be able to renew your domain if logged into the exact account that the upgrade was purchased under. Can you verify what account/user is associated with the original upgrade purchase?
Thanks!
-
The account is pregnetsblog.com
It’s unclear whether our account is on auto-renew or not. If it is not, I can’t figure out how to renew my account. I would like to do so before it expires.
Thanks!
-
Makes sense! You will not be able to renew your domain unless you are the owner of the upgrade. The original purchase was made under a different user/account (not noormohamedaliya). You will need to either get with the original owner of the purchase and have them renew the domain, OR have them transfer the upgrade to you. If you are wanting a transfer, a staff member will be able to assist you with it.

Thank you for the quick response! The owner is away on vacation and won’t be able to renew the domain or transfer ownership to me until after the account expires. What will happen to the blog if it expires without renewal?
Also, when you say “upgrade” are you referring to a renewal? Or upgrading our account from premium to the next level?
We are not interested in upgrading. Only simply renewing our premium account.
I’m assuming we’re not on auto-renew then?
Thanks!
-
I also forgot to mention…the owner of the upgrade should be able to see if it’s set up for auto-renewal on their Manage Purchases page.
-
Sure! When I say “upgrade”, I’m referring to your current plan because it’s not the free/basic plan. Technically, you have a two week grace period to renew once your domain expires, but just in case you don’t want to push it or if the owner will be on vacation longer than that, I’ll tag modlook to this thread to see if a staff member can further assist you with this.
Good luck!

Thank you! It’s good to know there is a grace period, so I think we should be fine. However, if there’s a way for me to complete the renewal before my manager returns, that would be greatly appreciated…she asked me to take care of it while she’s away :) Let me know if that’s possible. Thanks!

Hey there,
The upgrades do not expire until 7/21. Do you know if your boss will be back before then?
Otherwise, the best bet is to have your boss post in this thread under their account confirming to give you access to renew the upgrade.
Also, I see that the domain is part of the premium plan that was also purchased. Were you planning on renewing the entire plan or just the domain?
Let me know, thanks!
-
I think 7/21 should be fine. I’m sorry, I don’t know the difference between renewing the domain name vs. renewing the entire plan! Which one is expiring? How much does each cost? What happens if I renew one and not the other?
Thanks :)

Hey!
Domain registration, mapping, and privacy itself is $34 CAD whereas the entire plan (which includes the domain purchase) is $129 CAD. To find out more about what is included in the premium plan, please visit our store page:

Also, if you boss needs any assistance in renewing the upgrade once she’s back from vacation, feel free to have her post in this thread and we’d be happy to help.
Thanks!

Hi there!
We are thinking of renewing our domain alone and not the premium plan. I believe the only things we need are:
1. Our domain
2. Access to blog usage statistics
3. Access to this support forum
4. Everything listed as featured in a free wordpress accountFrom your perspective, do you see pregnetsblog.com using any features that are only offered as part of the premium plan?
I will send this forum page to the owner of this blog page so that she can authorize two people (including myself) to be able to renew the account and see all details of the account. We plan to renew in the next couple of days.
Thank you!

Hi there,
From your perspective, do you see pregnetsblog.com using any features that are only offered as part of the premium plan?
I checked your site and see that you all are using the custom design upgrade, which utilizes CSS code to customize the layout and design of the site. Unless you all are planning on changing themes or redesigning the site, that may be an important feature to keep and is most likely the reason the premium upgrade was purchased to begin with.
Once you gain access to the blog, I can help you see how the site looks with the feature and without the feature so that you can determine whether or not it is worth the additional price.
Thanks!

Hi,
That is very helpful, thank you! We will likely want to keep the appearance of our site intact, so it’s good to know that’s what we’re using the premium upgrade for. I would still love to see how the appearance would change without the feature (out of curiosity!) so hopefully you’ll hear from the owner soon and we can proceed with our renewal.
Thanks!

Hi there,
The pregnets blog site was opened under my account. I would like to give permission to Aliya to make upgrade decisions. Please let me know if you need any further information.
Thank you!

Thanks, Jessica! Can you also please add Nadia to the permissions list? That way we can both take care of administrative tasks for this account.
-
Hi Aliya,
I have given you ownership over the upgrades so that you can renew them or cancel them.
If Jessica gives permission to make Nadia an admin, I can go ahead and do it for you all.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Thank you! We will be moving forward with our renewal within the next few days. I checked the pricing list and it says a premium plan is $8.25/month, which comes to $99 for the year.
Can you please confirm the final price of the renewal?
Thanks in advance,
Aliya
