Renewing Premium Site

  • Unknown's avatar

First off, it would be nice if it wasn’t so difficult to renew our homeowner community site. As one of 5 Admins, I received a RED WARNING on the setting page saying my site was due to expire soon and I should click to renew. However, clicking the link to renew doesn’t work. After many hours we figured out that you can only renew with the email account you originally used to set up the site. I wish it would tell you that in the Expiration notice.

Second, we renewed the site but I’m still getting the warning that the site is due to expire. I checked and we definitely paid the renewal fee so not sure what it’s still saying that it’s expiring. Anyone have a similar issue?

    Thx,
    SB

  • Hi SB – Is the domain renewal reflected in your Billing History?

Typically, when you continue to get the ‘about to expire’ message the renewal did not go through.

When performing a ‘whois’ search for harperssquare.org it says your domain is still set to expire June 9th, 2016.

I have tagged this thread ‘modlook’ for you. This will notify staff that you are in need of their help with your domain renewal status. As a volunteer, I am not able to see any back end account information to further help you. Please subscribe to the thread. They will contact you here. It may take a day or so to hear back. Thank you in advance for your patience.

I think we renewed the wrong site then. We wanted to renew harperssquare.org but renewed harperssquarehood.wordpress.com.

It appears that we set up the harperssquare.org with a different email than we thought…is there any way to check what username or email is needed to renew the site?

    Thanks,
    SB

We renewed the wrong site, as mentioned above. But I think I just figured out how to renew the correct site and I’m about to do it.

As such, I’d like to request a refund for the site we incorrectly renewed – how do I go about doing that? What info would you need to process the refund for harperssquarehood.wordpress.com? Receipt ID? Transaction Date? Payment method? Please send me a PM for this private info.

    Thanks,
    SB

Ok – figured out how to get refund for wrong site – as it’s been under 30 days it’s just a click to process.

However, when I went to pay to renew the correct site, harperssquare.org, it wouldn’t accept my payment stating, “This subscription was originally purchased by another user. Please ask the subscription owner to renew the subscription.”

The question is: does it need to be renewed by the same user as originally or same credit card owner?

Please help – running out of time.

  • It may take 7+ days for the refund to be posted back into your account for the errant domain renewal. Refund information on WordPress.com is available here for future reference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

harperssquare.org can only be renewed from the account that originally created it, this is the owner of the domain.

WordPress.com is unable to divulge any private information, such as login credentials for the privacy protection of its users.

Each WordPress.com account requires a unique email address. I would have each Admin attempt to login with every email address they have and try to locate the renew option from Manage Purchases. There is an Account Recovery page that may help, but you will need one of the items listed there to prove ownership. There is a lost password form you can submit on The Account Recovery Page.

Staff might be able to send an email to the account owner of harperssquare.org, not share the email address, but send an email to the account, then you would be able to figure out which email is used for the correct account. I have tagged this thread ‘modlook’ to ask for assistance. It may take a day or so to hear back. Thank you in advance for your patience while waiting.

In the interim, if you are able to login to the correct account and successfully renew the domain, please share that information here and mark this thread ‘resolved’.

  • Oops! I had already tagged this thread ‘modlook’ from my previous post.

Thank you Liz – We have 9 hours left until our site expires. An email from the Staff to the account owner of harperssquare.org would be greatly appreciated before time runs out. I think we know who it is but the person is missing at the moment, possibly on vacation.

Is there any way to get a renewal extension by a few days or a week so we can locate our missing admin and pay the renewal fee? We don’t want to lose our site!

    Thanks,
    SB
