Repeat Background

    I’m having a hard time getting my background to repeat on my blog. The site is http://www.RJsFro.com. I’m using the Inove theme and have the CSS upgrade. I’ve tried numerous things to get it to repeat…

    I’ve tried…..

    body
    {
    background-image:url(‘http://image.jpg’);
    background-repeat:repeat-y;
    }

    I’ve tried….

    background-repeat:repeat-y;

    I’ve tried…..

    background-image:url(‘http://image.jpg’);
    background-repeat:repeat-y;

    and obviously where it says “image” I have my location in there I just changed it for this post…..and none of those work when I preview it. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Change your current “#wrap” definition to this:

    #wrap {
    background: #000 url('http://rjsfro.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/body_bg_01.jpg') top center;
    padding:20px 0;
    }

    That should do it.

    It didn’t work for me still….but now that I saw your site I would like to have the background stay in one spot like yours…..how did you do that?

    rjsfroweb,

    You said:

    I’m having a hard time getting my background to repeat on my blog.

    To me that means you want your background to repeat. If you want it to be static at the bottom of your page, then this is the code you’d need:

    body {
    background: #000 url('http://rjsfro.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/body_bg_01.jpg')  bottom center no-repeat fixed;
    }

    and get rid of the “#wrap” definition.

    HTH

    I should’ve finished that phrase. I meant to say:

    To me that means you want your background to repeat, that’s why I gave you the previous code.

    Just clarifying.

    @ devblog, I have tried to use this code as well as it pertains to a recent question I had, however I can’t get it to work. Is it supposed to be buy itself in the CSS stylesheet editor, or with the rest of the..

    body }
    ….
    }
    contents? I’m trying to add this as my background: (‘http://imaprile.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/floral_background_03.jpg’)

    Thank YOU very much.

    imaprile,

    Your background seems to be fixed… that’s what you want, right?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes, I FINALLY got it working! Thanks. :)

    What exact CSS did you enter imaprile? I’m trying to do this, too. Thanks.

    @Positivelyorphaned, mine looks EXACTLY like this.

    body {
    color:#333333;
    font-family:century gothic,verdana,georgia,trebuchet MS,sans-serif;
    font-size:62%;
    background:#FFFFFF url(‘http://imaprile.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/imaprilebg5.jpg’) bottom center no-repeat fixed;
    line-height:1.6em;
    }

    You have to upload your IMG into your media library, then copy the URL into the () above. I DID notice however, that it wouldn’t work on ‘preview’…. after about 5 hours and growing TIRED I accidentely hit SAVE STYLESHEET. At first I was “Oh, NO!”, but …. it WORKED! I was a happy camper. Happy tweaking! (let me know what you think of mine if you don’t mind?)
