Repeated Comments

  I am getting same kind of comments from some ids. Is that a spam or anything. is there a way to avoid that? I am really confused whether its a user or something else. Without being mentioned about the post there are so many general comments i use to get. How to stop that?

  I looked at just one of your posts’ comments (if it’s the blog linked to your username) and you’ve got a lot of spam there, also spam trackbacks. Akismet should be catching more than it is.

  In the meantime, go to your comments moderation page (dashboard – comments) and mark all the unwanted ones as spam. Akismet (the spam filter here) gradually ‘learns’ to recognise what it should and shouldn’t allow but sometimes it has to be told!

  I hope that helps.

  By the way, comments that refer to ‘great post’ or ‘great article’ or anything that isn’t in context with what you’ve written about should be considered as possible spam. Also any comments with a lot of links or those with odd URLs that are at odds with the content.

  You can turn off trackbacks on your dashboard and for each post.

  Personally, to stop these, I’d suggest moderating all comment til you’ve learnt how to deal with spam.

  I am unable to identify the difference. I got all the comments like that only.. How to find whether a real user has posted it? Can you please take a look at some comments and suggest?

  Every comment on your top post, except maybe shrinath, is spam.

  Feartheseeds is right, and his reply applies to the rest of your posts as well.
  You can tell because of the usernames: do you think that “Secrets of Money”, “jewish dating”, “hot uk deals”, “symptoms of low vitamin d” etc could ever be real bloggers that actually read your posts? You can also tell because of the content: the comments are either irrelevant (for instance “would you mind letting me know which web host you’re using”) or generic bullshit that could have been posted under any post (“great weblog” and the like), or automatically created pingbacks.
  You should do as absurdoldbird suggested and mark all of them as spam. Once you let such bogus comments stand, the bots that generate them detect it and will keep flooding your blog with more.
