Repeated Comments over and over

In the beginning, I was delighted to see that people were reading my posts and bothering to make comments. It has become very apparent however that there are people out there being paid to make comments. (I can only guess hoping to spike an interest in me to upgrade my account). I have deleted probably 100 comments that have been repeated by “different” people… wink wink… WORD FOR WORD. The frequency has become laughable.
So my question is this: DOES ANYTHING I POST WITH A FREE WORDPRESS ACCOUNT ACTUALLY GET PUBLISHED…YOU KNOW….SOMEPLACE WHERE THE MASSES COULD READ IT IF THEY FELL OVER IT OR IS IT ONLY SEEN BY A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE WITHIN THE WORDPRESS COMMUNITY?

Beats me, Mark. Are you using the Akismet widget to put the spam in moderation? If you don’t do that or moderate all comments, you’re going to get plenty of repeated nonsense. I get about 4 times the amount of spam attempts as I do actual comments. People try to link to sales sites every day, on everyone’s blog.

Any repeat comments like that are spam. Don’t delete them, mark them as spam so that the spam filter can learn and catching them.
