Repeated spam comments on one post only

Hi! I am getting spam comments on one post only. They all seem to be coming from the same source and they are all offering nude photos of celebrities. Askimet is catching them but why this one post only. I have tried changing the permalink hoping that might take care of it but to no avail. I understand I can “black list” addresses (just learned that) but will that also block the spam from even coming in and getting trapped? Thanks in advance for any help. The post that is attracting this spam is http://networksboise.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/featured-member-cp-post-insurance-services/. I could not see anything on it that might be out of the ordinary.

Hi,
Neither Akismet nor the Comment Blacklist will block comments outright – both will list spam comments in your Spam tab.
This usually happens because your post has ranked well in Google for a particular keyword. Spammers are searching for that keyword to find blog posts to spam.

It also happens if there’s one spam comment that’s been Allowed on that post. It’s identified as a weakness and spammers just hammer that post with more until the original spam comment is deleted. But I don’t see ANY comments on that post at all.

I’ve seen this at other websites. Either a spammer or maybe SEO software, will fixate on one post and keep hammering away. Makes no sense, but it happens. Maybe if you blocked comments for that post, even if it’s just for a few hours, the attack will stop.

I turned comments off on one post that was getting hammered 50 times a day for about two weeks and then turned comments back on and never had another spam comment on that post.
