replace uploaded pdf

How do I replace an uploaded PDF file with a new version?
I uploaded a PDF file and linked to it from several pages. Later I realized I needed to make some changes to the PDF document. How do I replace the original PDF document? If I upload it again, it saves it in this month’s folder under files (…/files/2009/07/stworksheet.pdf), which is different from where the original was stored (/files/2009/06/stworksheet.pdf), so all my links to the PDF are outdated.

I am pretty certain the only way to replace a file is upload a new one and change the links that people reference. On situations that I change documents, I personally just change an actual “post” and update it with the new link, not reference the actual document URL.

    Hi Sardeh,

this fact has been bothering me all the time and that’s why I just tried something new which is really working: Simply use a FTP programme and replace the PDF file in the folder blogwp-contentuploadsyearmonthname_of_pdf.pdf

While this works perfectly for wordpress.org blogs, this is not possible for wordpress.com blogs. As trent says, if you upload a new version, you need to update every link that links to it with the new location. There really is no other way in wordpress.com.

Thx husdal, I didn’t know that – and you’re right: our blog is a wordpress.org blog
