Replacing a pdf

I need to update an existing pdf. (It doesn’t appear on a page or post.) If I’m understanding it correctly, once I delete the file in the Media Library and replace it, there will now be a new url for the updated pdf. Is there a way to keep the url the same? Is there a different way that I should do this to avoid having a broken link? Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately, it does not seem possible to simply update the file without effecting the current URL associated. It sound like the current links associated with file will have to be updated, but as per the suggestion in the thread above for all future situations simply link the page where the file exists rather then file itself, then you can change the file on that page out multiple times without compromising the link given.
