Replacing GoDaddy Site with WordPress Site
-
I’m sure there is a topic that I missed, but I couldn’t find exactly what I needed. I have started this new site, which will be private until it enters Beta. We want to map this site to a domain that is currently hosted and will remain hosted by GoDaddy.
I know that I need to pay $13 to WordPress to map the domain registered through GoDaddy. We are essentially keeping the registration through them for the remainder of the non-refundable contract.
Chicken vs Egg: Which needs to happen first? Paying the fee to WordPress before the site switch, or wait for GoDaddy to map the site, which is scheduled for a couple of weeks? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You need to purchase an upgrade plan first from WordPress.com. Later ask GoDaddy to change your DNS.
Follow the document link below. It gives step by step description on Domain mapping.

Hi there,
I have followed all the instructions, but I still get this message saying the domain was used for another user and can not be assigned yet. I have been trying for days and is no working:
Thanks for checking it!
Otro usuario utilizaba este dominio hace poco y todavía no se puede asignar. Vuelve a intentarlo más tarde o ponte en contacto con el equipo de ayuda.
Asigna este dominio para utilizarlo como la dirección de tu sitio.

Hi @conchamayo,
I did a quick Whois lookup at https://www.whois.com/whois/coachingnarrativo.org and it looks like everything is in order now. In fact it looks like the changes just went into effect today. Can you please check and confirm that’s the case?
Just for reference there is a great article on just this thing here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ – let me know if you need any additional support! :)
