Replacing images

  Hi guys,

  I have a question about replacing images. When you are editing a picture in a post, there is the option ‘replace’. Does that mean, when you replace the image, it keeps having the tags etc. of the previous image? And when googled, people will find the old one, but once at your blog, see the new one? (and in time even find the new one and the old one fades away)

  I’m using a new theme and some images I now prefer to be horizontal instead of vertical. But I’m not sure to replace them because they have high google rankings and I don’t want to loose those.

  Can I replace the images safely without losing high rankings and people stumbling upon an ‘error image removed’ screen?

  * By high ranking I mean the get quickly found in google.
