Replacing pdf documents in WordPress.com

I want to replace an updated pdf using the same url (so that links to original document do not change throughout the website). I have found references on the web to a ‘replace’ button for documents in WordPress but I do not see this button on WordPress.com. Is this facility available on WordPress.com?

Howdy.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to simply replace an uploaded file to your WordPress.com media library and keep the same URL.
Even if you delete the old file, and upload a new file with the same file name, a number will be appended to the file name in your media library to distinguish it.

Thanks for the quick reply. It is as I suspected. The “replace” option I mentioned seems to be something a local web team added to their own WP site. Still – it’s a fairly essential facility, I would think. Maybe WP will think about adding something similar.
