    I am no longer able to Reply to posts on my friend’s blog. ‘Reply’ is grayed-out. What’s the trick?

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

  • If you start typing a reply, the button should turn blue.

    If this isn’t happening, please clear your browser’s cache and try leaving a comment again. If clearing the cache doesn’t fix this, try leaving a comment using a different browser.

    The Reply box turns blue until I click on it, then it turns grey and my reply does not go through.

    I can send a reply to the blog itself by replying to the e-mail notification I get when she posts. But I can’t reply to any other comments.

    I should add, my browser of choice is Firefox.

    Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this. Can you try a browser other than FireFox to see if you’re able to submit a reply? Also, did you happen to clear your cache on your FireFox browser to rule that out? I want to rule out this being a browser issue.

    Clearing a cache has become too complicated and risky for me. (I’m 75, I prefer things simple!)

    But I did successfully reply to my friend’s newest post by switching to Safari. Does that mean Firefox is the problem?

    If it worked to switch to Safari, then most likely this is a browser issue such as browser caching. This can happen with any browser including Safari. We have a great help document that walks you through solving common browser issues such as this:

    Thank you! Weirdly, my friend made a new post and, after the site asked me to re-identify myself, I was able to reply. 😯 So I guess we’ll see how it goes. I appreciate all your help.
