Replies to comments are not coming through to me

    Two friends of mine whose articles I published wrote Replies to Comments made to their posts. However, their Replies never got to me for moderating and in checking my Dashboard I see that there is no indicator there saying that Comments/Replies are queued.

    Why not? One of the authors, Dairenn, has been trying since last night. The other, Richard, has been waiting for… well, now it must be about 30 minutes.

    Why am I not getting their Comments/Replies in my email mailbox as I usually/always do????

    (1) Go here and make sure the settings for modertaing comments and receiving emails are correctly set up -> Settings -> Discussion
    (2) Go to your email program and check the spam filter there for the missing email notifications of comments.

    Time Thief:

    I checked the Spam’/Junk folder. Their comments for moderating are not there.

    Last night after I noticed that Dairenn’s Reply was not showing up either in my Dashboard/Comments or in my desktop email program, I changed the option from ”Must give email address and nail“ to ”Anyone can post a message.“ I then saved that change. (I knew it was not necessary to change it because everyone else was able to leave a comment.)

    Here are the rest of my settings, exactly as they have always been:

    DEFAULT SETTINGS:
    Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
    (YES) Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
    (YES) Allow people to post comments on new articles
    (These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)

    OTHER COMMENT SETTINGS:
    Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
    Users must be registered and logged in to comment
    Automatically close comments on articles older than days
    (YES) Enable threaded (nested) comments levels deep
    Break comments into pages with top level comments per page and the page displayed by default
    Comments should be displayed with the comments at the top of each page

    EMAIL ME WHENEVER:
    (YES) Anyone posts a comment
    (YES) A comment is held for moderation

    BEFORE A COMMENT APPEARS
    (YES) An administrator must always approve the comment
    Comment author must have a previously approved comment

    COMMENT MODERATION
    (YES) Don’t discard spam on old posts

    There is more, of course, but all irrelevant.

    What is happening to make those Replies/Comments not show up in my mailbox or in my Dashboard as a Comment/Reply awaiting moderation????

    Hold a comment in the queue if it contains or more links. (A common characteristic of comment spam is a large number of hyperlinks.)

    When a comment contains any of these words in its content, name, URL, e-mail, or IP, it will be held in the moderation queue. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.
